Revolution..

As many before this, this post is inspired by the musings of phoenix.

The backbone of change is hindered by the pleasures of comfort.
i look around me and see an angry people-
a people fed up with conformity,
fed up with the sights that line the road upon which society walks.

You hear them everywhere.
In tubes, in buses, in bars, pubs and clubs.
Their discontent, disillusioned.. dispirited.

I see them on my television-
they are malnourished, they are weak they are feeble.
Their tears accuse, and the guilt pinches my heart.

I hear them on my radio.
they boast of new development for mankind, the growth of the economy and cheaper fuel prices.

And everyday like a broken record in an unending dream..
we gather in pubs, tubes and buses,
we meet at work, in the street and churches.
we talk of our discontent, disillusionment and desire for change.

And i smell it.
It stinks to high heaven.
The stench of a generation consumed in gossip with no real desire for change.
The pungent odour of a rebellious people who think they are revolutionary.

Revolution comes at a cost-
You cannot hope for a new world until you are willing to give up the old one.

They sit in bars dressed to the nines and talk of revolution.
They drink deep in the status quo and gossip of discontent.
The Revolution or the plague of stench?
You can find your answer.

The backbone of Revolution is hindered by the pleasures of comfort.
Let true Revolutionaries arise anhd count no cost to see the new era.

Don't you know,
talking about a Revoultion sounds like
...a whisper.
